woke up thinking about the reason I have an anthropology degree (Zora Neale Hurston)
this day was the first n last day my parents parents met n it was a horrible experience for me I was off like an entire pack of gummies coping but I did it for them
even if they dont understand
She/They is a Bachelor of Science
college was def the absolute worst Time of my Life lol I wonder what going to school would Be like not Bein in the middle as the emotional therapist of a volatile divorce / parents mental health issues / abusive partnership / undiagnosed autism n adhd / workin multiple jobs at 23
I was in the world entirely alone totally exploited
but
the more they try to make school inaccessible to people like me the more I do the traumatized american 30 year old thing
“should I get another degree?”
n the answer is complicated
I am more focused on those extracting the Knowledge from the academy ethically
n returning it
those building out curriculum they cant swipe n sell n gatekeep for the upper class n those who are actualizing the Knowledge they went to school for
instead of sitting on debt n a useless degree with smug superiority
I want to align with people who are hands on about learning
n more importantly un—learning
(bc that is what is required of most people I am visible to n most are too cowardly n trapped in load bearing patterns to (re)evaluate n Revolutionize
but some will cut themSelves n others Free)
the cool thing about social media is we are all like lil social scientists n anyone can Be “an ethical observer of the other” n cultural trends with practice
but some of us are actual social scientists n if the tech overlords would actually ally with us human observers instead of the AI
things could get really magically balanced in the worlds of the future
